Why 58? Based on behavioral psychology studies cited in his 2021 seminar Agile Mittelstand , Poddelka notes that the average employee’s resistance to change peaks at day 21 and then again at day 45. By day 58, if the new system isn’t showing tangible results, the workforce will subconsciously sabotage it.

Dr. Anke Richter, a professor of SME management at the University of Cologne, stated in a 2024 review: "Poddelka’s 58 is a useful heuristic, but dangerous if taken as literal gospel.
